Local residents in Tulum will soon have free access to three public beaches, following an agreement made between key municipal and federal agencies. Two of these beaches are located within the recently developed Jaguar Park, while the third is in the coastal hotel zone.

The decision was finalized during a closed-door meeting on Friday, which included representatives from the Olmeca Maya Mexica Airport, Railway, Auxiliary and Related Services Group, the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas, and the municipal management of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat).

After two hours of deliberation, an agreement was reached to grant municipal residents free entry to three designated beach areas.

Two of the beaches are situated inside Jaguar Park, a protected natural reserve that aims to preserve Tulum’s coastal beauty while ensuring sustainable tourism development. These beaches will follow the same environmental regulations as other public beach areas but will remain free of charge for local residents.

In addition to these, a third public beach access point is currently being planned near kilometer 5 of the Tulum-Boca Paila highway, within the coastal hotel zone. Authorities are working on finalizing the details for its official opening.

A formal document outlining the agreement has already been signed by the involved parties. However, while the Jaguar Park beaches have been confirmed, the exact location and official opening date for the hotel zone’s public beach access are yet to be announced.

This new initiative marks a significant step in preserving public access to Tulum’s stunning coastline, ensuring that residents can continue to enjoy the region’s natural beauty without financial barriers. The move aligns with ongoing efforts to balance sustainable tourism, environmental conservation, and local community rights in one of Mexico’s most visited destinations.

As further details unfold, the Tulum community eagerly anticipates the official launch of these new public beach access points, reinforcing the town’s commitment to inclusivity and environmental responsibility.
